The overall objective of GEN4OLIVE project is to accelerate the mobilisation of Olive GenRes and enhance olive pre-breeding activities through a multi-actor approach, by:
1. Developing easy-to-use tools to leverage the information collected through a smart user-friendly interface that will implement big data and machine learning utilities.
2. Involving SMEs through the launching of specific calls and financial support.
GEN4OLIVE project has launched its 1st Open Call for Proposals with €750.000 of funding available for SMEs in the fields of olive pre-breeding and new breeding technologies. The Call will be open until December 1st, 2021.
SMEs can apply for funding up to €50.000 (“Individual Projects”) or up to €100.000 (“Collaborative Projects”).
WHICH ACTIVITIES WILL BE GRANTED?
The Call for Proposals will fund olive pre-breeding activities and the development of new technologies that accelerate and make the breeding process more effective.
The proposals must start from previous research results in order to carry out pre-breeding activities, both by taking advantage of the existing olive genetic resources in and out of the Germplasm Banks, and by applying or adjusting new techniques and technologies to accelerate the process.
WHO CAN APPLY?
SMEs established in one of the following countries: FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, ITALY, MOROCCO, SPAIN and TURKEY, who are: Interested in olive breeding activities.
They are the end-users of Germplasm Banks: mainly breeders, olive farmers and olive oil or table olives producers. ICT SMEs that may contribute to accelerate and upgrade the olive genetic resources.
Selected projects will enhance multi-actor collaboration and knowledge transfer between the Germplasm Banks and the SMEs.
